Every Ride Has a Beginning: The Cal-Sag Trail 20th Anniversary
[VENUE CHANGE: Due to expected rain, the venue has moved to Blue Island Beer Co., 13357 Old Western Ave, just around the corner from Chatham Street. Still bring a bike though - if we get a break in the rain, we’re still riding Blue Island’s trail to Halsted!]
Every ride has a beginning; the Cal-Sag Trail is a ride that began 20 years ago.
From four people who took a walk along a canal, to the involvement of residents, mayors, park districts, planners, engineers, congressmen, trail groups, corporations—a region rallied to connect its communities with a path from Lemont to Burnham. What a ride it’s been!
Join Friends of the Cal-Sag Trail on September 22 at Blue Island Beer Co., 13357 Old Western Ave, to discover the path that brought the trail to the Chicago Southland…and where it goes from here.

* Cheer the trail heroes
* Ride or walk Blue Island’s completed section of the trail
* Get the latest trail construction updates
* Join Friends of the Cal-Sag Trail and get the hat
* Hear how to get a memorial bench on the trail
* Free bike helmets for the first 30 kids, courtesy Disparti Law Group
* Enjoy a hot dog and beverages
* Post-event drink and dinner options on Old Western Ave.
The event is free, and we encourage everyone to join us by foot or bike. Car parking available at Old Western Ave. and Canal Street.
